Training on ‘Continuous Professional Development’


Department of Education, Self Assessment Committee (SAC), Uttara University organized a day-long Training program on “Continuous Professional Development” on 7 October  2017 Saturday at the IQAC Seminar Hall of the university. The program started with an Inaugural session.  Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Debi Narayan Rudra Paul, Director, IQAC of Uttara University was the Special Guest in the inaugural session. Professor Dr. M Azizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University , graced the closing session as the Chief Guest. Professor Md. Khairul Islam Khan, Dean, School of Education and Physical Education and Professor, Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean, School of Business, Uttara University were also present in this training program. Professor Taslima Begum ,Chairperson, Department of Education Chaired the program. The Chairperson wanted to enhance the professionalism of the teachers and it need to be continued. Faculty members of a university is not only to deliver the classes and transfer the knowledge, it also need to create new knowledge and should be innovative. Ms. Dulali Rani Saha, Assistant professor & Head, Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Department of Education, anchored the program and was the moderator of this training program. She presented a welcome speech thanking all the honorable guests and participants present in the training program.

The main objectives of this training program are to discuss about the nature of continuing professional development and its association with the teachers’ professionalism and effectiveness to drive up standards of education. High quality education for students depends upon the commitment and resilience of thoughtful, knowledgeable and skilled teachers. Dr. Muhammed Mahbubur Rahman, Associate Professor from Institute of Education and Research(IER), University of Dhaka was the Resource person of the training program. He emphasized on networking among the teachers, maintaining professional ethics and importance of research work of the teachers and understanding the multiple intelligence of the pupils. The training session was really a participatory, interactive and active learning process. Faculty members of Education department and different departments of the university were participated in the training program.

BBA Fresher’s Visited “Mutijuddha Jadughar” of Bangladesh

School of Business of Uttara University arranged a study tour for the BBA Fresher’s to visit Muktijuddha Jadughar (Liberation War Museum) of Bangladesh at 10.00am on 13 th October 2017, Saturday. The tour was organized as a part of the requirement of Bangladesh Studies (BAS-113) course. More than 35 students, one faculty member, and an officer of Uttara University accompanied the tour. The MuktijuddhaJadughar authority provided their whole-hearted support in transporting the students and providing them with necessary supports to learn the liberation war of Bangladesh. The Jadughar authority arranged a 23-Minute Video documentary presentation on Liberation War of Bangladesh that enriched the knowledge of fresher students. Students took notes on significant events related to Bangladesh Liberation War. At the end of the visit, the Jadughar authority organized a Competitive Test on liberation war among the students. Three students of Uttara University scored highest in the test got gift from the Jadughar authority. The faculty member and officer accompanied the tour were Md. Alauddin, Lecturer of SOB, and Mr.Liton Badsha, Assistant Registrar of Uttara University.

A Day long Workshop on “How to be Professional” at School of Business of Uttara University, Bangladesh


School of Business of Uttara University, Bangladesh organized a daylong workshop on “How to be Professional” on 14 October 2017 Saturday at the IQAC Seminar Hall of the university. Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University was present as the Chief Guest at the Certificate Awarding Session of the program. The program was Chaired by Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean, School of Business of Uttara University. Professor Dr. ASM Shahabuddin, Chairman of Department of Business Administration welcomed the participant Students Ambassadors in the closing session. The workshop was facilitated by five senior faculty members of School of Business as Resource Persons. The seminar was started at 10:00am with the lecture of Associate Professor of the School, Dr. Md. Zamanur Rahman. Dr. Rahman delivered lecture on the topic “Etiquette, Manner & Attire” while Assistant Professor, Mr. Suntu Kumar Ghosh delivered lecture on “Effective Communications & Networking”. Dr. Md. Shamsul Arefin, Assistant Professor of the School spoke on the topic “How to Interact and Face Interview” and Professor Dr. ASM Shahabuddin delivered lecture on “Integrity and Ethics in Behavior”. The last speaker was Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam who spoke on the topic “Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Intelligence (EI or EQ)” in the workshop. The moderators of Ambassador Program of School of Business Md. Sharif Hossain, Saida Sultana, and Mr. Zahidul Islam also attended the workshop. Fifty two Student Ambassadors of School of Business attended the daylong workshop.
