Uttara University Reading Club Inaugurates Four-Day Book Fair in Collaboration with Biswa Sahitya Kendra

The Uttara University Reading Club, in association with the đĩ𝑖𝑠𝑤𝑎 𝑆𝑎ℎ𝑖𝑡đ‘Ļ𝑎 𝐾𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑟𝑎, launched a lively four-day book fair today, April 29. The inaugural ceremony, which took place at noon, signalled the start of an exciting celebration of reading and education. Students and guests enthusiastically participated, establishing a joyous tone for the days that followed.

The distinguished Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University, Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, graced the occasion with his presence and gave a thought-provoking speech. When considering the value of reading, Dr. Goswami highlighted the intellectual and physical sustenance that books offer. He said, “Books are essential nutrients for the mind,” emphasising the transformative power of books on people and cultures across time.

The university’s registrar, Kazi Mohiuddin, joined Dr. Goswami on stage and contributed his thoughts to the discussion about the significance of literature in forming human civilization. The Controller of Examinations, Muhammad Ali, and the Director of Student Affairs, Samjir Ahmed, also gave speeches at the event. They emphasised the positive experiences and benefits of reading and the Reading Club’s crucial role in promoting reading among communities.

Speaking on behalf of the đĩ𝑖𝑠𝑤𝑎 𝑆𝑎ℎ𝑖𝑡đ‘Ļ𝑎 𝐾𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑟𝑎, Organiser Debashish Baral conveyed his gratitude for everyone’s cooperation and joint efforts in making the book fair a huge success. The festivities promise an engaging experience for attendees until April 2nd. With vibrant participation witnessed on the first day, organizers anticipate an even livelier atmosphere in the days to come.
