I extend my warmest congratulations to the graduating students, their parents, esteemed
faculty members, and the university authorities on the auspicious occasion of the 9th Convocation of
Uttara University.
In the growth trajectory of Bangladesh, the role of education in shaping a brighter future for the
nation is immense. In this age of technological advancements, economic development and social
changes are deeply interconnected with quality education. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR)
presents both challenges and opportunities that demand the engagement of a highly educated,
innovative and responsible workforce. In this context, the role of qualified and skilled graduates
becomes even more crucial. I am hopeful that fresh graduates from Uttara University will apply their
skills, knowledge and leadership qualities to address these challenges and contribute to the progress
and development of Bangladesh.
I recall with gratitude the contribution and sacrifices of students from all educational
institutions, including Uttara University, during the July-August uprising. This historic event remains an
enduring symbol of courage, resilience and unwavering commitment to justice. I urge all to uphold the
spirit of this uprising and work together to realize the vision of a new Bangladesh, free from all forms of
discrimination.
Convocation is not only a celebration of academic success but also recognition of the collective
efforts of the students, their parents and the university authorities. I urge the graduating students to
work hard and contribute to building a society rooted in morality, equity and patriotism. I wish them a
bright and successful future.
I wish the 9th Convocation of Uttara University a grand success.

I am very happy to know that Uttara University is going to celebrate 9th Convocation. This convocation
marks the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance and hard work by our graduates, their
families and the faculty who have guided them.
Graduates, this celebration is a testament to your achievements and the opportunities ahead. As you
step beyond the university, remember that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge but
about applying it responsibly to contribute to the development of society and country. The future is
full of challenges, but also abundant with opportunities. You must strive to make your mark with
integrity, innovation and commitment to excellence.
One pressing issue is the increasing trend of students leaving the country for higher studies after
completing their secondary education. While this has been a global trend, it has grown significantly in
recent years, highlighting a perceived lack of confidence in our local institutions. To reverse this trend,
we must focus on improving the quality of education and research in our universities to ensure that
students find compelling opportunities at home. I believe both public and private universities will play
an important role in this endeavour.
Efforts are already underway to depoliticize our education sector and ensure merit-based
appointments across institutions. These changes are vital to restore trust and elevate the standards of
higher education.
Graduates, as you embark on your journey carry forward the values of integrity, curiosity, and service.
Your contributions will be essential in shaping the future of Bangladesh.
Congratulations to you all. The world awaits your impact.

I am delighted to know that Uttara University is holding its 9th Convocation on January 25, 2025. I
would like to extend my heartiest congratulations and felicitations to all the faculty members, staff,
university administration, and of course, the graduating students of Uttara University for this
remarkable milestone.
The academic journey of the graduates reaches its culmination on this auspicious day, that is,
Convocation which marks dedication, perseverance, and commitment. I know that Uttara University
thoroughly followed the directives of the Government and the University Grants Commission of
Bangladesh and has continued providing quality education despite since its inception. I hope that the
graduates of this renowned institution have overcome challenges, embraced knowledge, and honed
their skills, preparing themselves to make significant contributions to society. Therefore, I would like to
remind the graduates of the fact that education is a perennial process that never ends but opens
different chapters in the various phases of life. So, embrace the spirit of inquiry, continue to learn and
grow, and never cease to explore the boundless horizons of knowledge.
Uttara University created a remarkable academic niche from its beginning in 2003 under the motto
‘Quality Education at Affordable Tuition’. However, later on, the University changed the earlier motto
to ‘Excellence in Higher Education and Research’ and contributed significantly in higher education and
research. Besides, it is my firm belief that the university will encourage students to use practical
knowledge and skills to help them attain success in the professional world. Moreover, I hope that the
university’s graduating students will play a vital role by implementing their academic knowledge and
moral values to fulfil social responsibilities toward building a better Bangladesh for all.
The challenges of the concurrent world demand innovative solutions and critical thinking. You, the
young minds of today, are the architects of tomorrow. I urge you to use your talents and intellect to
address these challenges, and to build a more just, equitable, and sustainable future for all. The
Ministry of Education remains committed to supporting your aspirations and fostering an environment
that nurtures creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning. We are confident that you will go on to
achieve great things and make us all proud.
