Notice regarding UGC Digital Library

The undersigned is directed to inform all concerned that Uttara University became a member of the UGC Digital Library (UDL) under HEQEP Project. It is a great advantage that Uttara University recently introduced the Services of EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and RemoteXs of the e-resources in and off campus, Uttara University.

All Faculty members, executives and others including the students are advised to visit https://uulibrary.remotexs.co/userllogin. If face any problem, please communicate with the Librarian, Central Library.

It is mentionable here that if anybody wants to take the facility of e-resources service other two platforms can also be used i.e. EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and Research4Life: Hinari, AGORA, OARE, ARDI and GOALI publishers.

Membership Rules :

  • 1. The students who have taken proper admission and valid registration to the university are entitled to become a library member.
  • 2. The students who fill up the membership form and took the library card may enjoy borrowing books and other services offering by the Library.
  • 3. To become a member of the library the student must bring two photographs (one stamp size and other passport size) and original admission slip/bank slip/money receipt given by bank.
  • 4. Then the student will communicate with Library circulation section they will verify the ID No. and will give him membership form and a blank library card to fill up. After fill up the form then Librarian will put his signature on library card and back page of membership form.

  • 5. After signature of the librarian the student will sign in a register khata and then the card will hand over to the student for issuing books.
  • 6. If the library card is lost by the student then he/she must reported it to circulation section and apply to the Librarian for re-issue of a duplicate card after giving compensation for Taka 100/- only.
  • 7. Every student will give a library card for entire period of 12 semesters. The continuation of the card in each semester will remain the same.
  • 8. Library membership cards are neither transferable nor exchangeable. Each individual student is responsible for security of his/her library card.
  • 9. The Student must deposit the card to the library at the time of clearance, otherwise he/she will compensate Taka 100/- as penalty for lost of the card.

Entrance Rules :

  • 1. Before entering the library the student will keep his/her belongings e.g. bags, umbrellas etc. to the pigeon-hole of the library near the issue counter. All valuable materials like cash money, cell phone, jewellery, camera, wristwatch etc. must taken out from their bags and will keep at their own disposal.
  • 2. Cell phone/mobile phone must be switch off before entering the library premises as the library is a study zone.
  • 3. The student must not write in the library books nor should they tear off the pages of books, journals etc. If the of fenders caught or identified should be questioned before University higher authority and he/she may be penalized for damages of books and journals etc.
  • 4. All members of the library are advised to check, books, journals, periodicals after issuing them from the Library. If no such report has been made it shall be assumed that the present user had been received the book in good condition.
  • 5. Silence is to be strictly maintained in the Library. The seats of the library are not reserved for anybody.
  • 6. The members of the library shall abstain from any kind of discussion or group studies or gossiping which may cause of disturbance of other students as the library is a place of study area. Any kind of noise is not allowed inside the Library.
  • 7. The library officers/staffs/security guards are authorized to search student within the premises at the time of entrance and outgoing from the library premises.
  • 8. If any misconduct happened in the library towards the library officers/staffs by the student, then it shall be reported to higher authority and disciplinary action may be taken against the offenders.

Borrowing Rules :

  • 1. Library hours are as follows for the readers of other Departmental Library including Central Library:-
    a. 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Monday to Wednesday.
    b. 9.00 am to 8.00 pm on Thursday to Saturday.
    c. Sunday is closed.
    d. In Ramadan time table of the library is 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.
    e. The Library will remain closed on any recognized holiday announced by the Government.
  • 2. The Student who admitted and received the Library card they may issue three (3) books at a time if the books are available on the shelves.
  • 3. Any rare books, reference books, e.g. Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Theses, Journals will not be issued generally from the library but photocopy may be done.
  • 4. The Student at first issued a book for 15 days. After then he/she can re-issue it for further 15 days if the book is not demandable to others. But not renew for more than two times.
  • 5. If the student does not return the book in due time, he/she will face for late fine as per following rate:-
    1st week for each book @ of Taka 2/- only.
    2nd week for each book @ of Taka 3/- only.
    3rd week and more days each book @ of Taka 4/- only.
  • 6. Late fine may be deposited in the recognized Bank of the University or in the Library counter through late fine receipt which was keep in the Library.
  • 7. The student must check the book at the time of issue, whether it was torn or any other defects found in the book, then he/she must reported it to the Library officer.
  • 8. If the books are lost or damaged by the student then he/she will produce a new book to the Library. If failed then he/she will give compensation for lost book, which may be two times or three times of the real price that may be determine by the Librarian.
  • 9. The student must return the books after 15 days of issue. If the Library found closed on that day then it will be returned on the following day. If the returned date found in any big vacation or in any other Government leave/vacation then the book must be returned within three days of the Library re-opening day.
  • 10. No books shall be out of the library without gate pass issued by the Library Officer.
