Pledges against corruption: Youths take a deep insight on RTI at Uttara University


An Orientation on Right to Information (RTI) Act was held at the Auditorium of the department of English, Uttara University, Dhaka on 30 December 2019. Along with the orientation, the participants took pledges against corruption, watch different types of anti-corruption TVC of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and participated in a quiz competition on RTI and anti-corruption. YES group- Uttara University organized the event in association with TIB and Uttara University. Before the orientation a short inauguration was took placed where Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, honorable Executive Director of TIB was graced the program as Chief Guest. The Adviser of the Uttara University, Professor Faez M. Serajul Hoque; Registrar Mr. Kazi Mahiuddin; Dean of the School of arts and social science, Professor Haspia Bashirullah; Dean of the School of Education & Physical Education and the adviser of the YES group, Professor Md. Khairul Islam Khan and Director (Acting) of the Student Affairs of Uttara University, Mr. Md. Shafiul Alam Chowdhury were present there including the other faculties, officials, students from all departments and members of YES-group of the Uttara University. This session was driven with the presentation of Ms. Dulali Rani Saha, Adviser, YES-group and Assistant professor and Coordinator of the Department of Education, Uttara University. Dr. Iftekhruzzaman was happy to be here at Uttara University. He was happy to see the motivated young people and the faculties of Uttara University and their enthusiastic presence to learn something special, which is RTI act. He said using this act it is possible to change the current horrible scenario of corruption and irregularities of the country. He said, he believes that all people will use this act in the upcoming days and will fight corruption with the spirit of our liberation war. The other guests of the program also thank TIB to take this good initiative for the young generations. They also committed to continuing their support with TIB and the YES group. After this inauguration part, the participants take the pledge against corruption by taking the anti-corruption oath. Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of TIB conducts this oath-taking session. In this RTI orientation program, more than 160 participants have acquired knowledge on the Right to information act 2009 and take a deep insight to fight against corruption using the RTI Act. Ms. Nadira Sultana, Manager, Training Unit of TIB has conducted the session on RTI and a question-answer session on RTI. Followed by the RTI orientation, the participants took part in the quiz competition on RTI and different anti-corruption issues. Among the participants the winners are rewarded with books.
