As a part of real-field experience program, a group of 25 students and 2 faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Uttara University(UU) visited 950MW Ghorashal Thermal Power Plant, Narshingdi (the second biggest power plant of Bangladesh) on 2nd March 2018.
In this industrial tour, students were guided by Md. Shafiq Uddin, Assistant Professor(EEE) and Md. Kamruzzaman, Assistant Professor & Coordinator, Department of EEE. Before the demonstration, a lecture session delivered by expert engineer(GPS) was organized for the students on the overall working procedure of this large power plant.
During the visit, students were briefed of the various sections of the power plant, by the power station engineers, which include the generators room, boiler section, cooling section, transmission control room, load management and monitoring room, substations and distribution switch terminals.
It was a significant opportunity for the students of EEE (major-Power) to gain practical experience of visiting such a big power plants of Bangladesh and acquire knowledge about the practical applications of their classroom-based study.
The visiting group was thankful to Prof. Dr. Kazi Khairul Islam, Professor(EEE) & Dean(SSE) and Dr. Md. Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Associate Professor & Chairman, Department of EEE, for their kind cooperation to complete this visit successfully.
