6th Convocation - 2018 of Uttara University Observed
“Uttara University has been able to prove that it is not only a center of receiving quality education but also a place of bringing out the changes of social and economic trends. Only this type of university can create the platform for students to prove their potentiality in a certain period of time. Uttara University has relentlessly been providing this service from its foundation time.” Today, 30 October-2018, Tuesday at 3:30 PM, Honorable Education Minister, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, M.P., Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has said in his speech as a Chief Guest of 6th Convocation-2018 of Uttara University at Nobo Ratri Hall, Bashundhara Convention Center-04.
Mr. Abdul Mannan, Honorable Chairman, University Grants Commission, Bangladesh was there as Convocation Speaker. Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University welcomed the distinguished guests, participants and the graduate students in particular. Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Uttara University expressed her wholehearted thanks towards the participants of the program in her thanksgiving speech. Mr. Kazi Mahiuddin, Registrar, Uttara University also extended his heartiest thanks to the participants of this 6th Convocation-2018.
Honorable Education Minister said, “We want to create skilled manpower for our country. In this regards, we need to create new knowledge and ideas along with skilled manpower. As a part of UU’s progress, Uttara University has already been able to arrange some international seminars, set up research cells, and publish research journals regularly. Uttara University has also been arranging workshops and trainings to motivate faculties conducting more researches. I welcome Uttara University for their initiatives to intensify the research activities and I also hope that through creating new knowledge, Uttara University will contribute nationally and internationally by providing skilled manpower”.
Convocation Speaker, Mr. Abdul Mannan said in his speech that “Convocation is a very important and blessed program for the student because through this program, students get their formal recognition as graduates which will encourage them to grow self-confidence. This is the turning point students’ life. I believe that Uttara University has played an important role to make students confident to choose their right profession and they have got proper training about how they will become successful in life. I think the students of this university will not only enlighten themselves, they will be remarkable for their outstanding contribution in developing our society as well as our country”.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University said, “Educated people are the national treasure of a country and without quality education; it is not possible to create these national treasures. In this regards, Uttara University always employs experienced teachers to ensure quality education through providing congenial environment for teaching. Above all, through the direct and indirect cooperation of different Governmental organizations along with whole hearted support of our experienced and knowledgeable faculties, Uttara University has been playing very important role to make our students skilled. I welcome you all at this auspicious certificate awarding ceremony. You all have to contribute in developing this country and all you have achieved today will have to offer for the overall development of this country”.
In her thanksgiving speech, Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University said, “I extend my heartiest thanks to all of you for your gracious presence in this 6th Convocation of Uttara University. I believe that students’ success is our success. We have to face the challenges of the 21st century and your firm belief and determination will help you to fight with problems to reach your ultimate destination. We will always be with you and wish you best of luck”.
In this convocation program, different parliament members, intellectuals, high government officials, trustee board members from different universities, Vice-Chancellors and Pro Vice-Chancellors of different public and private universities were present.
At 5:00 PM, the 6th Convocation-2018 of Uttara University has been ended with the concluding speech of Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University.
Director of the Office of Students Affairs (DOSA) of Uttara University organized a half-day workshop on “Technology-Enabled Learning Strategies – How can We be Ready for Future” for the Class Representative of BBA program of School of Business on 17 October 2018 Wednesday at 2:30pm at the IQAC Seminar Hall. The workshop was conducted by Professor Mostafa Azad Kamal, Dean of School of Business of Bangladesh Open University. At the certificate awarding ceremony, Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University was the Chief and Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean of School of Business of Uttara University was Special Guest. Director of DOSA, Dr. Zamanur Rahman presided over the certificate awarding ceremony. Faculty members of School of Business were also present in the ceremony. More than 40 Class Representatives of BBA Program of School of Business attended the workshop.
Uttara University organized a seminar on “Role of Private University in Higher Education of Bangladesh” at Vashantek Govt. College, Dhaka on 13 October 2018 Saturday at 11:30am at the College Auditorium. A team from Uttara University led by Professor Dr. Ayesha Begum, Chairman, Department of Bengali, Uttara University visited the College. Uttara University jointly organized this seminar with Vashantek Govt. College, Dhaka. The seminar was Chaired by Professor Mahmuda Khatun, Principal of Vashantek Govt. College, Dhaka. College faculty Ms. Nupur Akter and Ms. Atia Akter of Vashantek Govt. College supervised the whole program. Professor A K M Mozammel Haque was present as key discussant of the seminar. Professor Mamtaz Begum, Department of Bengali and Prof. Dr. Ayesha Begum, Chairman, Department of Bengali of Uttara University were present as discussant in the Seminar. They talked about the role of private university in higher education of Bangladesh. They focused on the quality issues of Uttara University education policy and the facilities for the students in higher education. The second session of the seminar was a discussion and question-answer session on “Bangla Banan (Spelling in Bengali words)” moderated by Mr. Samzid Ahmed, Senior Lecturer, Department of Bengali, Uttara University. Ms. Dulali Rani Saha, Assistant Professor, Department of Education anchored the seminar. Ms. Mahmuda Begum, Associate Professor, Department of Education, Md. Amzad Hossain, Assistant Professor, Department of Education and Muhammad Atiqur Rahman, Senior Lecturer, Department of Islamic Studies, Uttara University were present in the seminar. More than 300 HSC First year and Second year students and teachers of Vashantek Govt. College were present in the seminar.
