Office of International Affairs

Overview

The Office of International Affairs (INT) at Uttara University is dedicated to fostering global engagement by developing strategic academic alliances and managing institutional partnerships. It serves as the central hub for international collaborations, facilitating agreements such as Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), semester and credit transfer programs, joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programs, and institutional visits for both incoming and outgoing participants. Any and all kinds of cross-border activities shall fall under the purview of this office.

INT also plays a crucial role in advancing research and PhD programs (proposed) in collaboration with the Center for Research and Training (CRT), enabling faculty members and students to engage in high-quality and innovative international research collaborations. This office is accountable to the Board of Trustees directly.

Key Functions of the Office of International Affairs

1. Global Academic Exchange & Partnerships

  • Promote international educational exchange in alignment with the university’s strategic vision and the evolving needs of faculties and departments.
  • Facilitate academic collaborations with foreign institutions, including research partnerships, joint degree programs, and curriculum development.
  • Strengthen Uttara University’s global reach by actively engaging in international academic networks.

2. Student & Faculty Mobility Programs

  • Develop policies, manage processes, and monitor both inbound and outbound student and faculty exchange programs.
  • Assist students in participating in exchange programs, study tours, research visits, academic competitions, and cultural exchanges in collaboration with faculties and departments.
  • Provide guidance and support for faculty members seeking international teaching and research opportunities.
  • Keep update of immigration laws and visa rules of countries with link to UU.

3. Institutional Agreements & Networking

  • Oversee the negotiation, implementation, and management of bilateral agreements with international universities, research institutions, and organizations.
  • Build strategic networks, obtain memberships, and seek accreditation and membership with globally recognized academic bodies and institutions.
  • Organize international delegations, hosting visits from representatives of foreign universities, research organizations, and governmental bodies to explore collaborative opportunities.
  • Organize high-quality and impactful networking events.

4. International Research Collaboration & Higher Studies

  • Facilitate joint research initiatives and PhD (proposed) programs with foreign universities in coordination with CRT.
  • Provide opportunities for researchers and scholars to engage in international projects and funding programs.
  • Support collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and academic publications at a global level.

5. Administrative & Policy Support

  • Develop policies, guidelines, and frameworks for international engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Provide advisory support to faculties and departments on internationalization strategies, partnerships, and global ranking initiatives.
  • Ensure seamless coordination of visa processing, travel arrangements, and logistical support for incoming and outgoing students, faculty, and delegations.

6. Hosting & Event Management

  • Organize and manage international academic events, conferences, symposiums, and guest lectures in collaboration with partner institutions.
  • Facilitate visits, exchange programs, and networking opportunities to strengthen global academic relations.

7. Additional Responsibilities

  • Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the university authority and the Board of Trustees to enhance global engagement and institutional collaboration.

Through its initiatives, the Office of International Affairs plays a crucial role in strengthening Uttara University’s global presence, expanding opportunities for faculty and students, and fostering a culture of international collaboration and academic excellence.
