In a significant stride towards health education and preventive care, Uttara University’s campus was a hive of activity, hosting an extensive Cervical Cancer vaccination program, an Awareness Seminar, and a General Health Checkup. This initiative was a collaborative effort between the Happiness and Well-being Club, Uttara University and Popular Pharmaceuticals PLC.
The event commenced with an Inaugural Speech by Muhammad Tazbiul Hasan, the president of the Health and Well-being Club. His opening remarks set the tone for the day’s health-centric activities. Following the inauguration, Abu Zahid Hasan Neel, Clinical Psychologist, Consultant of Uttara University, and club advisor, delivered a poignant message: “Awareness is the first vaccine.” Prof. Haspia Bashirullah, Treasurer, Uttara University, and other faculty members from different departments graced the event with their presence along with dignitaries, Dr. Shaheen Lipika Quayum, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Popular Medical College, and Iftekhairul Islam, BPM, PPM, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Police Welfare and Force Division at Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Their participation underscored the campaign’s significance and lent gravitas to the proceedings.
In her address, the guest of honor, Prof. Dr. Lekha, Vice Chancellor, Uttara University, lauded the collaborative efforts and emphasized the university’s commitment to student health. “Such initiatives are crucial in building a health-conscious community, emphasizing Women’s health. We are thankful to our esteemed guests and Popular Pharmaceuticals for their support in driving this mission forward,” she remarked.
The successful arrangement of the day’s events has set a precedent for future health-related programs, with a promise to maintain the momentum in educating and protecting the youth against the risks of cervical cancer.
