It is a matter of immense pleasure that Uttara University is going to observe its 7th Convocation on 24.07.2022. I would like to extend my heartfelt felicitations to all the graduating students, their guardians, the authorities, and the teaching and administrative staff of the university on this momentous occasion.

It needs to be noted that a nation’s sustainable development highly depends on its farsighted education system which incorporates both the up-to-date knowledge and the 21st century skills. In the same line, the present government has invested a lot during last decade to build up both the higher education sector and the digitalization of different sectors of the country. Its result is partially projected by the remarkable rate of the GDP of our country despite the negative effects of the worldwide pandemic.

I am delighted to learn that Uttara University was one of few leading universities of the country to shift from on-campus education system to the G-Suite based standard online teaching and learning system soon after the pandemic hit Bangladesh in 2020. The continuation of online academic activities as per the government instructions has made it possible for the graduating students to complete their programs and to attend this convocation. On this joyous occasion, I hope the graduating students would strive to serve the nation sincerely with their earned knowledge and skills.

I am pleased to learn that the 7th Convocation of Uttara University is going to be held on 24.07.2022. On this occasion, I extend my heartiest felicitations to the graduating students and congratulate them on their achievement.

Our government promised to establish Bangladesh as an illiteracy-free, progressive and democratic country by 2021, the Golden jubilee year of our independence. To attain that goal we adopted a modern, scientific and time-befitting Education Policy and initiated strategic plan for Higher Education, 2018-2030. We are taking into consideration an amendment to Private University Act-2010 proposed by the UGC and the Education Ministry to enhance our policy and priority for the private universities.

During the Covid-19 pandemic situation our government introduced remote learning through television, mobile phone, radio and internet even at the obscure rural places covering the majority of population. I am delighted to learn that Uttara University has conducted their academic activities virtually during the pandemic and enabled their students to save themselves from the curse of session jam. I appreciate the exertion of the authority, the faculty and all the members of Uttara University to combat the adversities of the pandemic.

I hope that the graduates of Uttara University will nurture a dream to embrace the duty of transforming the socio-economic landscape of Bangladesh, dreamt by the Greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Following the Government's bold decisions in tackling the Covid-19 crisis, Uttara University continued providing online education despite all hindrances. I congratulate you for successfully graduating and am also proud of recogniz- ing the sincerity and dedication of the teaching and administrative staff of Uttara University.

Uttara University has been producing graduates by providing 'Quality Education at Affordable Tuition' since its inception in Bangladesh. I believe that the university will continue to strive for quality in higher education and research. I hope that the university will encourage students to use practical knowledge and skills to help them attain success in the professional world. It is, indeed, a very special day for this university because it bears testimony to the accomplishments of students, faculty members, and the management of the university. Nowadays, private universities are an integral part of the higher education of Bangladesh and making substantial contributions to infuse knowledge and skills to the graduating students who, in turn, are playing a vital role in building their careers and promoting the economic development of the country.

On this golden jubilee of independence Bangladesh, I am grateful and blessed to be part of Convocation 2022. Due to the pandemic, we were not sure about the dates. But finally, it is time for the much-anticipated event. I want to congratulate the new graduates of the University and their proud parents.

I also wish to take this opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude to those teachers and staff of Uttara University for shaping, guiding, and preparing students to meet the various challenges of the 21st-century. Moreover, I want to thank the distinguished members of our Board of Trustees, Syndicate, and Academic Council of Uttara University for their time, commitment, and continuous supports for making this event a success.

The celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation makes your graduation event more special as it could not be timed any better to start your journey to serve the Nation. I am grateful to the almighty Allah for being able to hold the 7th convocation of Uttara University on 24.07.2022. The convocation is an auspicious event for us. In these dire times the Uttara University family, all faculties, staff and administrative officers have worked relentlessly to make it a success.

Uttara University has always worked to give the best education to its students. Since its inception in 2003, the vision and mission of the University are to enable its students to meet the demands of an ever challenging and quick evolving world.

Since its inception, the university has steadily been progressing by keeping in view the motto of quality education at affordable tuition. In the meantime, we have managed to shift the university to its permanent campus which will hopefully be completed sooner than we expected. For imparting quality education, some concrete steps have already been taken. The university has also arranged a few national and international conferences for wider exposure of the faculties.

In 2020 and 2021, we confronted a strange and dangerous phenomenon which changed the normal world. The pandemic brought a new mode of education. Uttara University accepted the new mode and rose up to the occasion. It quickly trained its teachers to take online classes. The faculty members adapted themselves to all the challenges, difficulties and tough problems of new methodology. Students were oriented to the online method. Classes, exams, presentations were carried on.

Uttara University graduates today are fully equipped to go forward and contribute to the needs of the nation and the world. Up to date technology and excellent advancement have been provided to the students. The economy suffered tremendously in the last two years. Uttara University extended its hand and provided support to its students by giving tuition scholarships and waivers.

I convey my sincere congratulation to the graduates. The graduates will walk on the path to bring progress and development to Bangladesh through hard work, devotion and patriotic zeal.

I pray for the success and happiness of the students receiving their degrees in this ceremony and set foot towards the road of success and achievement.

Uttara University emphasizes quality education of International standard at affordable cost in Bangladesh since its commencement in 2003. The university is providing education in the disciplines that are indispensable to secure a position in the highly competitive job market. We ensure our best effort to provide all necessary technological, ideological and academic support to our students to meet the challenges of modern world.

Uttara University asserts the pride of combating the Covid-19 pandemic situation as a front liner academic organization. Following the guidelines of University Grant Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Education we continued our academic activities virtually. We aided our students with technical supports for e-learning, extended tuition waivers, omitted delay fines and provided the most needed counselling to survive the hideous period of the pandemic. We consider this convocation is a trophy for the victory over all adversities.

I believe our graduates from their respective positions will apply their acquired knowledge and skills, talent and creativity with patriotism, integrity and dedication to build the future prosperous Bangladesh.
