Office of External Affairs

The Office of External Affairs at Uttara University functions as an essential intermediary connecting the institution with its external stakeholders, which comprise industry partners, government agencies, alumni, and the wider community. By placing an emphasis on cultivating alliances, encouraging cooperation, and bolstering the university's standing and exposure, our department significantly contributes to the realisation of Uttara University's strategic aims and objectives.

The primary aim of our office is to foster and sustain favourable associations with external stakeholders in order to provide assistance for the academic, research, and outreach endeavours of the university. We establish proactive relationships with community organisations, government agencies, and industry partners in order to identify opportunities for resource mobilisation, collaboration, and mutual benefit.

The Office of External Affairs (OEA) of Uttara University was established in January 2024. Its main objective is to enhance the reputation of the university both nationally and internationally. The OEA engages with external stakeholders and UU alumni. Additionally, it is committed to improving the soft skills of current students to better prepare them for the job market through seminars, training sessions, symposiums, and workshops. The OEA is currently divided into two divisions and operates under the supervision of the Vice-Chancellor. The divisions are:

  1. Centre for Career Development (CCD)
  2. Office of the Alumni Affairs (OAA)

Vision

With the motto of UU, the OEA is dedicated to equipping graduates with high levels of soft skills, making them fit for the job market through seminars, training sessions, symposiums, and workshops.

Mission

The OEA of UU will facilitate mutual collaboration among students, faculty members, and alumni by providing a digital platform for its global alumni to stay connected and exchange international experiences.

Functions of OEA

With Building Skills, you’ll focus on both the specifics of applying to positions and the hands-on experience and skills gained from coursework, study abroad, campus activities, and internships/jobs. The CCD works as a catalyst to enhance students' attributes and transform their potential into global luminosity. To this end, CCD regularly offers UU students and graduates various skill development programs that help them grow professionally, make decisions, solve problems, and gradually become market leaders. The CCD creates a bridge connecting students to other departments, faculty, administration, and corporate bodies through alumni.

The Office of Alumni Affairs (OAA) is in charge of communicating with Uttara University alumni around the world. Every alumnus/alumna is a representative of Uttara University (UU). Alumni programs/activities stay in touch with UU alumni who are interested in the growth and reputation of their alma mater.

Alumni Affairs Division

The Alumni Affairs Division, which functions as a critical intermediary between Uttara University and its distinguished alumni network, is committed to cultivating enduring relationships, encouraging active participation, and facilitating reciprocal assistance; thus, it assumes a pivotal function in fostering the university's rapport with its alumni body.

Central to our mission is the goal of fostering a dynamic and involved alumni community that maintains ties and involvement with Uttara University well beyond the recipients' graduation. Alongside providing opportunities for alumni to contribute to the continued success and growth of their alma mater, we endeavour to cultivate in them a sense of loyalty, pride, and belonging.

The Alumni Affairs Division is entrusted with a diverse array of duties, which comprise support, communication, alumni engagement, and networking. We exert considerable effort in fostering significant engagements and affiliations among former students, offering avenues for networking, guidance, and career advancement.

In addition, it is the responsibility of our division to acknowledge and commemorate the accomplishments and contributions of alumni from Uttara University. Alumni achievements are duly recognised through the organisation of events, awards ceremonies, and reunions. These occasions provide alumni with the chance to impart their wisdom and experiences to present students, faculty, and staff. The AA division also manages donations received as gifts, will or scholarships.
