Uttara University celebrated Baishakhi Parbon 1432 with vibrant festivity and a joyful atmosphere. Organized with the support of the Office of Students Affairs, the day-long festival featured a variety of cultural performances, traditional Bengali food, diverse stalls, and decorative elements representing the essence of rural Bengal. The celebration highlighted the richness and beauty of Bengali culture.
The event was held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in front of the university’s Annex Building on the sports ground. Many students, faculty members, and administrative officials participated enthusiastically.
The festival was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University. Professor Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro Vice-Chancellor, attended as the special guest. The entire university campus was immersed in a lively and traditional ambiance filled with colors and festivities.


Students set up various stalls showcasing traditional products, including Baishakhi sweets and snacks such as monda, batasha, muri, chira, and moya. To portray different aspects of Bengali lifestyle, attractions like nagordola (traditional Ferris wheel) and bioscope were also included. The entrance was decorated to resemble a rural setting, and the campus walls were painted with artistic strokes, adding to the festive mood.
The first part of the festival began with a flash mob, followed by vibrant performances of dance, music, recitation, and drama by the university’s students.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha remarked that this Baishakhi celebration is not just an event but a powerful connection to our roots, an opportunity to embrace the history, traditions, and culture of Bengal. Organizers shared that the festival was not only about joy but also served as a confluence of unity, creativity, and heritage.
A major highlight of the day was the live performance by the band “Akash Gayen”. The New Year celebration was graced by the presence of the University Treasurer, Deans of various faculties, Directors, Departmental Chairpersons, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Proctor, faculty members, students, staff, journalists, and members of various student clubs. Everyone in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant spirit of the festival. The event was sponsored by EXIM Bank and co-sponsored by Haque Consultancy.
