Department of Education, Uttara University organized Orientation program summer 2019 & Talent Hunt Program on 19 July 2019, Friday at the permanent campus of the university. Professor Mumtaz Begum, Treasurer, Uttara University graced the program as Chief Guest. Professor Md.Khairul Islam Khan, Dean, School of Education and Physical Education of Uttara University were present as Special Guest of the program. Professor Dr.Md.Abul Kalam Patwarey, Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, Professor. Dr.Sayeda Banoo, Chairperson, Department of Bangla, Uttara University, faculty members of Education department and other departments and all trainees and students of B.Ed(Hons), B.Ed and M.Ed program were also present in the program. The orientation program was followed by a Talent Hunt Program in its second part. Ms. Dulali Rani Saha, Assistant professor and Coordinator of Education Department delivered welcome speech and introduce Uttara University to the newly admitted students. Professor Taslima Begum, Chairperson, Department of Education Chaired the program. Newly admitted students along with old batches students spontaneously participated the talent hunt session. Professor Taslima Begum said that teacher training should include co-curricular activities as these are the integral part of teaching. Trainees’ perceptions of their participation in co-curricular activities need to be identified clearly and thus need to educate them properly. She also said that Education is a vast concept that can never be constrained within the classroom. The holistic development of a child must be accomplished and for this we need to look at striking a harmony among syllabus, books, programs and co-curricular exercises.
