Inauguration Ceremony of IEEE UU Student Branch of Uttara University was organized by IEEEUUSB in association with Dept. of EEE and Dept. of CSE, on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Uttara University Auditorium. Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, Uttara University, was attended this inaugural ceremony as a chief guest. The Keynote Speaker and Special Guest Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section, delivered her informative speech to the audience especially young engineering students. The program was arranged with 3 segments: Inaugural speech session, Technical Talk Session and Cake cutting with Photo session. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Kazi Khairul Islam, Dean, School of Science & Engineering, Uttara University. In this inaugural ceremony, guest of honor was Prof. Dr. Mijanur Rahman, Advisor of IEEEUUSB & Chairman, Dept. of CSE, and Dr. Md. Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Advisor of IEEEUUSB & Chairman, Dept. of EEE. Md. Kamruzzaman, Counselor of IEEEUUSB and Assistant Professor & Coordinator, Dept. of EEE; Mahmood Reaz Sunny, Mentor of IEEEUUSB and Senior Lecturer Dept. of EEE and Alamgir Hasan, Chair of IEEEUUSB, delivered their speech on activities and importance of involvement with IEEE. The event was flourished by handing over a crest to Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz by Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, and another crest to Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha by Dean & Chairpersons. All faculties, students of EEE & CSE and IEEE student members were present in the program. The ceremony was concluded by cake cutting and photo session with all faculties and IEEE members. “IEEE UU Student Branch” was officially approved by the Member and Geographic Activities Board, Region-10(Asia Pacific) and “IEEE Bangladesh Section” on 26th April 2019. The branch activities were started with 5 faculties and 20 students. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology.
