“IEEE UU Student Branch” along with Dept. of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Uttara University successfully organized an industrial tour at “Saif Power Battery Factory”, Pubail, Gazipur, Dhaka on 6th August 2019. The tour was led by the Branch Counselor Md. Kamruzzaman(Assistant Professor & Coordinator-EEE), Dr. Md Akhtaruzzaman (Assistant Professor-CSE) and Md. Shahriar Kabir (Lecturer-EEE). In this tour, 16 IEEE-student-Members and 14 non-IEEE members from department of EEE and department of CSE were participated and actively observed all technical process of battery manufacturing. The senior officials and engineers of Saif Powertec Ltd., Major Farukh Ahmed Khan(Retd.) (COO, Admin & Logistics), Engr. Shajal Kumer Sharma (Chief Operating Officer-Factory Operation), S M Shamsul Farhan (Chief Operating Officer-Battery Division), Dider Alam Chowdhury (Factory Manager-DGM Operation), Rakibul Islam (Brand Communication Officer), Md. Monir Hossain(Assistant Manager-Admin) presented their technology and shared their experiences related to manufacturing, testing and research. The day-long tour was started with a “Technical session” where factory engineers describe battery manufacturing process. After that, “Factory visit session” where whole process was observed practically and after lunch the tour ended with a “closing session”, where some souvenir was handed over to faculties from “Saif Powertec Ltd.” and both organizations express their interest in further collaboration regarding knowledge sharing, training and employment. All the faculty members and the students of Uttara University were very pleased for the hospitality and co-operation from the Saif Powertec Ltd. In addition, “IEEE UU Student Branch” and dept. of EEE Uttara University, are very thankful, to Mr. Tarafder Md. Ruhul Saif, Director, SAIF Powertec limited for permitting this tour.
