Office of Compliance & Legal Affairs

The Office of Compliance and Legal Affairs at Uttara University functions as a fundamental pillar of the university community, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance, accountability, and integrity. Our office is dedicated to maintaining legal and ethical standards at all times. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that the university complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Additionally, it mitigates potential legal liabilities and safeguards the interests of the institution and its assets.

Promoting a culture of ethical behaviour and compliance across the entire university is the fundamental aim of our mission. Regulatory requirements and legal obligations pertinent to the university's operations are assiduously monitored and assessed, and policies, procedures, and training programmes are developed and implemented to ensure compliance.

The Office of Compliance and Legal Affairs is entrusted with a diverse array of primary duties, which comprise risk management, policy formulation, regulatory compliance, and legal counsel. We assist and advise university departments and units in maintaining adherence to industry standards and best practices, in addition to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

In addition, our office is committed to the oversight of legal affairs and the advocacy of the university's interests in such concerns. We offer legal advice and advocacy in various domains, including labour law, intellectual property protection, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. When necessary, we collaborate with external legal counsel and internal stakeholders.

The Office of Compliance and Legal Affairs functions not only in the realm of compliance and law, but also in the promotion of integrity and ethical behaviour throughout the university community. In addition to conducting investigations into allegations of misconduct or violations of university policies and procedures, we educate and train on ethical principles.
