I welcome you to the School of Arts and Social Sciences to learn about our School and our shared commitment to the value of education. Explore our course offerings, the expertise of our faculty and our outstanding facilities.
With a sense of wonder, we welcome the 21st century, which is affected by a technological revolution and global awareness never before experienced by humankind. The advancement of technological innovation has dramatically transformed human mobility from horses to cars, aeroplanes, and rockets. The way we communicate with each other has been irrevocably changed by satellite technology, computers, and telephones. We have arrived at the crossroads of humanity and technological innovation. What should the role of the arts and social sciences be in a 21st-century university? The role of the School of Arts and Social Sciences should be unique at a critical moment in time. As a result, we provide context for what it means to be a responsible global citizen in a technologically advanced society. Since the dawn of recorded history, humanity has struggled with concerns related to ethics, truth, meaning, and beauty. Our goal is to comprehend what makes us human in the first place. We aim to raise people’s standard of living.
Our goal is to protect the planet. We use creative innovation to search for truth. We seek truth through artistic innovation. With this vision and mission, the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Uttara University fosters critical thinking, creative expression and intellectual curiosity. Our School is engaged in the best preparation for the fierce urgency of the contemporary world so that the graduates are equipped to prosper in an unpredictable future. The School of Arts and Social Sciences strives to provide its graduates with the best preparation possible for the intense urgency of the modern world, enabling them to thrive in an uncertain future. The goal of the School is to prepare students for a lifetime of active participation in civic and public life by fostering an informed and engaged citizenry. It also aims to provide them with the knowledge and skill sets necessary to take advantage of the variety of career opportunities that will present themselves and to adapt to a changing environment.
A great educational institution’s heart and soul is the faculty. Our professors are erudite, committed, and thoughtful about the value and character of a liberal arts education. Through their innovative pedagogy, cutting-edge scholarship, and commitment to teaching, faculty members change our students’ minds and lives. I am proud to be part of a dynamic community of professionals who are committed to preparing students of diverse backgrounds. The main objective of our faculty is to educate the inquisitive community and societal leaders who can translate their coursework and excellent preparation into successful careers and lives through innovation, engagement, and equity-minded practices. From the first day of class, until they attain what they define as success, we all work to empower our students.
School of Arts and Social Sciences includes Department of English, Department of Law, Department of Islamic Studies and Department of Bengali language. In total, the four academic departments and twelve interdisciplinary programs provide a rich curriculum to test the ability of the students to reach their full potential.

As Professor & Coordinator of the Center for General Education (CGE) of Uttara University, I warmly welcome you all to the Center. Our faculty has a very good mix of senior faculty members with vast teaching and research experiences in the public and private sector Universities and research institutes, and talented young faculty members selected through a very transparent, fair and competitive recruitment process. The faculty members, as mentors and facilitators, care most about you, will provide you a fulfilling experience in your studies and extracurricular activities and will help you grow as complete human beings.

About
The Center for General Education (CGE) is a conducive and smart learning entity under the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SoASS) at Uttara University, which is the largest center of such kind among the private Universities of Bangladesh. Along with the needs of global education, CGE is formed to ensure highly professionally innovative education for ambitious students. This center offers courses to expand the knowledge and skills of the students other than their major, which have specific intellectual and social relevance with special focus on soft skills which is mostly interdisciplinary. Guest speakers and renowned professors are regularly invited to give seminars, further enriching the educational experience of the students.
Vision
Foster free thinking and provides the foundation of education with focus on our developments as good human beings, and patriotic citizens with liberal, humanitarian values and proper ethical, social and cultural norms and behavior. It also envisions for refined and polished human resource development to accept the challenges of contemporary world marked by rapid technological, mechanical progress, and commercialization.
