Uttara University hosted an inspiring orientation program for the Fall 2024 batch of freshers on December 6, 2024, organized jointly by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and the Department of Physics. The event aimed to welcome the new students and introduce them to the university’s academic environment and vibrant campus life.

The program was attended by several distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, Prof. Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Dr Md. Tareque Aziz, Chairperson of the Department of Physics. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Chairperson of the Department of EEE.

In her welcome address, Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha encouraged the freshers to aim for academic excellence while embracing the holistic development opportunities at the university. She emphasized the importance of engaging actively in campus life and exploring academic and extracurricular activities. She said, “your time at Uttara University will be a transformative journey that enhances your academic knowledge and prepares you for future leadership roles.”

Prof. Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro-Vice Chancellor, spoke about the university’s academic programs and the collaborative spirit across its departments. He urged students to build strong relationships with faculty and engage in the university’s research and development initiatives.

Dr. Md. Tareque Aziz, Chairperson of the Department of Physics, shared insights into the department’s innovative programs and encouraged students to pursue research and scientific inquiry. Prof. Dr. Md. Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Chairperson of the Department of EEE, outlined the department’s focus on practical learning, advanced technologies, and real-world applications in electrical and electronic engineering.

The event also featured a lively cultural program, including music, dance, and drama performances by the students, which added to the festive atmosphere. The performances showcased the creative talents of the freshers and fostered a sense of community among the new students.

The orientation concluded with an exciting sense of anticipation as the freshers officially became part of the Uttara University family, marking the beginning of their academic and personal growth journey.
