The Department of Bangla at Uttara University hosted its much-anticipated Freshers’ Reception 2024 on November 28, a joyous occasion that warmly welcomed the incoming batch of students. The event showcased a blend of academic excellence and cultural vibrancy, setting the stage for an inspiring journey ahead.

The event was honoured by the presence of Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the department’s commitment to fostering intellectual growth while preserving the cultural heritage of the Bangla language. “This reception is not just about welcoming our students but about integrating them into a rich tradition of knowledge and culture,” she said.

Joining her as the Special Guest was Professor Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, who underscored the importance of academic rigour and student engagement in shaping future leaders. The distinguished panel also included Dr Shah Ahmed, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Salah Uddin Quader, Acting Chair of the Department of Bangla, both of whom extended their heartfelt greetings and advice to the freshers.

The reception’s highlight was its colorful cultural program, reflecting the spirit and vibrancy of Bangla traditions. Students captivated the audience with mesmerizing performances, including traditional songs, poetry recitations, and dramatic pieces inspired by renowned Bangla literature. The cultural showcase was a testament to the talent and creativity thriving within the department.
