The Department of English at Uttara University officially welcomed the incoming class of 2024 with a vibrant Freshers’ Reception held on November 7 at the university’s Multipurpose Hall. The event, which was themed “Seize the Day,” set an encouraging and uplifting tone for the new students as they began their academic journey.Uttara University’s Department of Law held an exciting and vibrant Freshers’ Reception on 8 November 2024 at the University Auditorium, welcoming its new batch of law students. The event, designed to introduce the freshers to the university community, was filled with warm speeches and cultural performances.
The reception started with a welcoming speech by Dr Mafruza Sultana, Chairman of the Department of Law, who addressed the freshers with encouragement and advice. Dr. Sultana emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, and the pursuit of knowledge in shaping successful legal careers. She also spoke about the university’s commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
The Chief Guest for the event, Hon’ble Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, delivered an inspiring address. He welcomed the new students to the legal profession and encouraged them to approach their studies with integrity and responsibility. Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury also highlighted the significance of law in upholding justice and building a fair society. In addition to the speeches and performances, the event saw the participation of university leaders, including Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, and Professor Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro-Vice Chancellor, who both offered their congratulations and shared their best wishes with the freshers. They assured the new students that the university would provide all the necessary resources and guidance to help them succeed academically and professionally.
The Freshers’ Reception concluded with a lively interaction session, allowing new students to ask questions and interact with faculty and senior students. This informal session helped to foster a sense of community and connection among the freshers, faculty, and senior students. This year’s Freshers’ Reception began the student’s academic journey at Uttara University. It reaffirmed the university’s dedication to providing a well-rounded educational experience that blends academic rigour with cultural and personal development.The freshers were also treated to a series of captivating cultural performances by the Department of Law students. Traditional dance and music performances brought a festive atmosphere to the event, showcasing the vibrant cultural life at Uttara University and the diverse talents of its student body.
