A virtual workshop on “Offline Video Lecture Recording and Editing”, (specially designed for university teachers) was organized on 24th August, 2020, Monday by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Uttara University, in association with IEEE Uttara University Student Branch.

The event was graced by approximately 50 faculties from inside and outside Uttara University as participants. The workshop was hosted online over google meet. The resource persons were Md. Kamruzzaman, Assistant Professor & Coordinator, EEE, UU and Mr. Mahmood Reaz Sunny, Assistant Professor, EEE, UU.

In the beginning of the program at around 3 pm, Dr. Md. Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Associate Professor & Chairman, EEE, UU welcomed the participants with his welcome speech. In his speech, he highlighted the necessity of this event especially in this era of online education and mentioned how the Department of EEE has always prioritized quality education in a systematic online administration as well.

Then, the event was inaugurated by honorable Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor, Uttara University. She emphasized on the synchronization of academic & technological knowledge and applauded IEEEUUSB for arranging such an important workshop. She thanked the Dean, SSE & Chairman, EEE for their keen vision and prompt actions in conducting online activities.

After that, the first resource person Md. Kamruzzaman, Assistant Professor, EEE, started his session demonstrating the use of OBS and Kdenlive softwares. The session continued till 5.30 pm. Then the second resource person Mr. Mahmood Reaz Sunny conducted his session on the open source video editing software, Shotcut. Mr. Kamruzzaman also conducted a thought provoking session on etiquettes and gestures while recording a video.

The participants thoroughly mentioned their feedback on these sessions as being highly informative, detailed and illustrative as well. In the end, experimental tasks were given to participants, upon submission of which digital certificates will be awarded.

A virtual communication loop was initiated using Facebook Messenger where the necessary files and links were pre-handed to the participants for smooth functioning of the workshop. In this communication thread, queries were answered by an active organizing team of Md. Shahriar Kabir, Lecturer, EEE, UU and Mr. Hasin Mussayab Ahmed, Lecturer, EEE, UU before, during and after the event as well. The whole program was anchored by Sheikh Farhana Binte Ahmed, Senior Lecturer(EEE).

Finally, the closing speech was given by Prof. Dr. Kazi Khairul Islam, Dean, School of Science & Engineering, Uttara University where the event and the resource persons were highly appreciated of their skills and efforts. The speech elaborated on the video recording & editing capacity of the eminent film-makers and how those paved a new dimension in the society and created job sectors. Around 7.30 pm, the program ended with a declaration of the next episode of this virtual event series being held over the topic of the demonstration of virtual office administration, a path-breaking idea and milestone achieved by the Department of EEE, Uttara University.
