The establishment of IQAC is an indispensable first step towards the development of internal quality assurance system in a university. The general objective of IQAC is to promote a quality enhancement culture within the university by ensuring that the academic and non-academic units adopt and implement Quality Assurance (QA) standards. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC will become a part of the institution’s system and work towards realization of the goals of quality enhancement and nourishment. Uttara University has been awarded a project for establishment of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 14 June 2015 with Professor Dr. Debi Narayan Rudra Paul as its Director and Fakir Tajul Islam as Additional Director. This award is an initiative undertaken by the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of University Grants Commission (UGC), funded by HEQEP, World Bank for quality enhancement in higher education. The IQAC of Uttara University is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring quality education at all levels of the university.
1. To build up a quality system for mindful, reliable and catalytic actions to advance the academic and administrative performance of the Uttara University (UU);
2. To design and promote necessary measures for quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture in this university.

Functions of IQAC, Uttara University (operational feature)
Currently nine departments have been selected for self assessment under the guidance of IQAC, UU. Departments’ are-
In 2015, four departments, namely Dept. of Business Administration, Dept. of English, Dept. of Education and Dept. of Physical Education have started their self assessment activity and have been developing the quality culture in their higher education programs. By establishing IQAC, it will be possible to initiate systematic and organized activities for quality assurance at Uttara University which will lead to Quality Culture up to Global Quality standard with uniformity and conformity to international standards of QA practices.
IQAC, Uttara University formed three committees for procurement of works and materials; and recruitment of personnel. The committees are:
1.RFQ Evaluation Committee: The responsibility of this committee will be to evaluate the RFQs submitted by different firms or individuals for (a) renovation works including supply of necessary materials for the renovation work for IQAC office and its seminar room, (b) supply of materials (furniture, electric goods and other office supplies) for IQAC. 2.Work and Material Receiving Committee: The responsibility of this committee will be to receive the works as materials in terms of both quantity and quality as per specifications in RFQs. Members are-
3.Personnel Recruitment Committee: The responsibility of this committee will be to evaluate the candidates applied for different positions in IQAC and to select the candidates suitable for the positions applied for as per specification and conditions of the advertisement.
