Uttara University offers all the courses of study primarily in English. Teachers provide instruction to students in the classroom in English. English is also widely used as a medium of communication among the faculties, students, and administrative officials.
Bachelor of Education with Honours (BEd Hons) (4 Year)

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program is of 1-year duration divided into 2 semesters. Graduates of all streams of education working in different educational institutes and/or in education-related fields are eligible for admission to this program. Pedagogical courses are emphasized in this program. The program consists of 44 credit hours, including 15 credit hours of Education Science courses, 6 credit hours of General Education courses, 6 credit hours of Teacher Training with Subject Specialization courses, 15 credit hours of Practicum, and 2 credit hours for the Comprehensive Exam at the end of the second semester. Practicum is the special feature of this program that includes Micro Teaching and Simulation (3 credit hours) and an internship (12 credit hours). After completion of the program, students are expected to be capable of imparting quality teaching in educational activities and contributing to the development of a learned society in the country.

Master of Education (M.Ed) is a 1-year program for coursework mode, which involves taught courses totaling 41 credits. M.Ed is a 1 year and 6 months program for mixed-mode, consisting of a 21-credit taught component and a research component involving a 20-credit thesis. The total credit for this program for coursework mode is 41 credits, and for mixed-mode, it is also 41 credits. This program helps extend the knowledge obtained from Bachelor of Education programs. Courses studied here include pedagogical courses, general education courses, and subject specialization courses. Bachelor of Education (Hons.) program is of 4 years duration, divided into 8 semesters. This program consists of 140 credit hours, including 48 credit hours for Core Courses, 36 credit hours for General Education Courses, 27 credit hours for Elective Courses, 9 credit hours for Teacher Training with Subject Specialization, 4 credit hours for Demonstration/Simulation and Micro Teaching, 12 credit hours for Practice Teaching (Internship), and 4 credit hours for Viva-voce. During a semester, each course will meet for 3 hours a week for the 3 credit courses. Additional classes or sessions in the form of discussion sessions, seminars, workshops, practical work, and fieldwork may be scheduled by the respective course instructors.

b) Admission Requirements: Graduates from any discipline (Science, Arts, and Commerce) may apply for admission to the B.Ed program. Preference will be given to those with an association with teaching. In addition, candidates must be physically and mentally fit, and they must qualify in the written test and viva.
c) Total minimum credit requirement to complete the program: 44 Credits
d) Total class weeks in a semester: 14 Weeks
e) Minimum CGPA requirements for graduation: 2.0
f) Maximum academic years of completion: (1+2) = 03 years

Courses offered by Uttara University for B.Ed. are grouped into five. They are:
Total =15+6+6+15+2 = 44 Credits
Education Science courses, General Education courses, Practicum courses, and the Comprehensive Exam are compulsory for all trainees. Teacher training with subject specialization (elective/concentration courses) offers trainees the choice to select subjects based on their educational background and professional needs. These elective courses have been designed with consideration of the similar courses in our secondary education system. To help teachers achieve in-depth knowledge of their school subject, they will not be allowed to select from groups other than their own.
a) Duration of the program: 2 semesters (1 year) for coursework and 3 semesters for mixed-mode. Each academic year is divided into two semesters.
b) Admission Requirements: For admission to the M.Ed. program, the minimum qualification is graduation with a pedagogical degree. In addition to this, candidates must be physically and mentally fit, and they must qualify in the written test and viva.

b) Admission Requirements: Students can be admitted to the B.Ed (Hons) program in the Education Department if they have obtained a minimum CGPA of 2.50 in both S.S.C and H.S.C or equivalent examination levels separately, or a total of 6.0 points in both cases with a minimum of 2.0 in one level, as per UGC rules. Candidates will be selected for admission based on a written test and a viva voce. Admission tests will be arranged by the School/Department or the university. Students with a break in their studies may apply, and they must obtain qualifying marks in the admission test.
c) Total minimum credit requirement to complete the program: 140 Credits
d) Total class weeks in a Year/semester: 14 weeks in a semester / 28 weeks in a semester Additional classes or sessions in the form of discussion sessions, seminars, workshops, practical and field works etc., may be scheduled by the respective course instructors.
