Department of Education, Self Assessment Committee (SAC), Uttara University organized a day-long Training program on “Continuous Professional Development” on 7 October 2017 Saturday at the IQAC Seminar Hall of the university. The program started with an Inaugural session. Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Debi Narayan Rudra Paul, Director, IQAC of Uttara University was the Special Guest in the inaugural session. Professor Dr. M Azizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University , graced the closing session as the Chief Guest. Professor Md. Khairul Islam Khan, Dean, School of Education and Physical Education and Professor, Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean, School of Business, Uttara University were also present in this training program. Professor Taslima Begum ,Chairperson, Department of Education Chaired the program. The Chairperson wanted to enhance the professionalism of the teachers and it need to be continued. Faculty members of a university is not only to deliver the classes and transfer the knowledge, it also need to create new knowledge and should be innovative. Ms. Dulali Rani Saha, Assistant professor & Head, Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Department of Education, anchored the program and was the moderator of this training program. She presented a welcome speech thanking all the honorable guests and participants present in the training program.
The main objectives of this training program are to discuss about the nature of continuing professional development and its association with the teachers’ professionalism and effectiveness to drive up standards of education. High quality education for students depends upon the commitment and resilience of thoughtful, knowledgeable and skilled teachers. Dr. Muhammed Mahbubur Rahman, Associate Professor from Institute of Education and Research(IER), University of Dhaka was the Resource person of the training program. He emphasized on networking among the teachers, maintaining professional ethics and importance of research work of the teachers and understanding the multiple intelligence of the pupils. The training session was really a participatory, interactive and active learning process. Faculty members of Education department and different departments of the university were participated in the training program.
